Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson There are performers and then, there’s Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson. One of the most dynamic entertainers in music, Keith initially rose to the top of the charts in 1998 with his first hit, “Hide Behind The Mountain”. Five years later, “Jesus as the mountain” is still a constant thread throughout his music. “Send A Revival”, Keith’s latest CD lets us know that it doesn’t matter whether you are facing the normal routines of life, or a crisis of life, Jesus is still to be kept first. Whether your life is filled with commotion or emotion, Jesus must be the priority. The poignant track “Somehow” is a testimony to the fact that He is the One who can see you through everything you face in life. For Keith Johnson, whose professional career spans only eight years but includes two Gospel Truth Magazine Music Awards, two American Gospel Convention Awards, three #1 songs on multiple charts, six STELLAR Award nominations, and a successful run of two years as an actor and singer in the plays P. M. S. and “What A Man Wants, What A Woman Needs”, singing has been his joy. A former member of the Harlem Boys Choir, Johnson began singing at the age of five. It was at this age he received the nickname “Wonderboy” for displaying his impressive talent. Even at a young age, music was always about passion to Keith. As a youngster, growing up in New York City, he looked forward to the great concerts at the Apollo Theatre. Artist like Joe Ligon, Marvin Winans, John P. Kee, James Cleveland, Harvey Watkins, the Swanee Quintet and others played a key role in the development of Keith Johnson as an artist. Backed by band members Hezekiah Bethea, Dewan Wright, Ray Braswell Jr., and Tyrone Jackson, Keith is determined to make a global impact for Christ. While Keith is happy with the work he has done in the past, he is striving to chart new waters. “I want to do everything I possibly can to help move forward the work of Christ.” With their blend of contemporary and traditional elements of gospel music, this group or young men is poised to take their message of hope, love and forgiveness to the masses in unprecedented fashion. The best is still yet to come! |
