| Helen Baylor By God’s grace, Helen Baylor has experienced life from the top to the bottom, and back to the top again; she testifies that “Love Brought Me Back.” Her singing career began in night clubs in L.A. and later, she opened for musical greats Stevie Wonder, B.B. King and Aretha Franklin. Helen received the Lord early in her life, but the corruption of the show business world took its toll on the vivacious young performer, and practically stole her life. “Helen’s Testimony,” recorded on her fourth project, The Live Experience graphically details the experience of her drug overdose at a Hollywood party. “But I had a praying Grandmother...” Helen recalls with a new strength that began her restoration and rededication to the Lord. Realizing the depth of need in the church and in the world at-large, Helen states, “The success of The Live Experience doubled and even tripled the size of our audiences,” Helen explains, “but that just made me want to do an even better job. I want to touch people where they are.” Helen Baylor’s professional gospel career began after the Lord revived and refreshed her spirit and delivered her from the trappings of her disparaging lifestyle. She sat under the Word for six years, serving in her church choir at Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, before launching out with a custom record, that sold so well independently, it brought her to the attention of Word Records.
