Charrisse Nelson-McIntosh

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever 89:1…Charrisse Nelson-McIntosh, Minister and Psalmist, Her passion for Jesus Christ is evident in each note and each word she sings.Charrisse acknowledges that her gift is from God and understands that Jesus Christ has chosen her to be an instrument for His works.  Her calling has come without repentance; but she has given herself to the Lord completely so that He can be glorified and the body of Christ edified.  There is a testimony within her of hardship, sickness, and triumph and God has seen her through and given her a message for His people.

She first began singing as a child with her mother, older sister and brother known as the Nelson Family.  Her parent’s Reverend Paul N. Nelson Sr. and Reverend Jacqueline D. Nelson trained her up in the way she should go.  Charrisse has at times departed from it attempting to escape that which God has called her for, but now she is determined after experiencing a true personal relationship with the Lord Jesus not to waver from the task God has set before her.

Charrisse is a native of Washington, DC and has traveled the United States extensively.  God has allowed her the opportunity to travel at home and abroad ministering to believers and non-believers alike of His mercy, everlasting love and the importance of a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.  Charrisse has also been a blessing in the Virgin Islands, West Indies and Western, Central, and Southern Europe.

In October 1995, Charrisse was one of 22 people hand-picked by Richard Smallwood to create the Stellar Award winning and Grammy nominated Richard Smallwood & Vision.  Their first project “Adoration, Live in Atlanta” was recorded and released in 1996 on which Charrisse was featured on the uplifting song “Thank You”.  “Thank You” was yet another opportunity to express her heart and to reach and minister to the masses giving her vivacious voice recognition in the Gospel Music Industry.  Charrisse remembers singing “Thank You” in Italy, in a forum where the language barrier was great.  At the end of the show a woman who spoke little English sought her out and held her hand tightly saying, “I too love Jesus”.  It was then that Charrisse realized what her heart already knew; that the love of and for God transcends all barriers.  Charrisse has also been featured on the Stellar Award winning project “Healing, Live in Detroit” and Grammy nominated “Persuaded, Live in DC”, singing the heart stirring, classic Psalm 8.

In addition to giving honor to God through song, Charrisse has allowed God to use her in other capacities.  She has been preaching the gospel since 1996 and conducting seminars and conferences for youth, singles, and women.  Charrisse has not only been traveling in the capacity of a psalmist but has also served as the guest clinician in several gospel music workshops.

In September 2000, Charrisse recorded live her first solo project independently.  Her debut album “My Heart Sings” is sure to exceed all expectations.  Charrisse owes everything to the Lord Jesus for her life.  She is determined to get the gospel out through song and the preached word in an ongoing mission to compel the lost to Christ.  She believes wholeheartedly, “study the word of God daily, for it is the word that will keep you.”

Charrisse is happily married to Timothy McIntosh, Jr. where they reside in Durham, North Carolina with their son.  They worship under the leadership of Pastor Patricio Wilson at Christ Family Church, in Cary North Carolina.
